Financier is a traditional French recipe made of almond powder, flour, sugar and eggs, shaped like a small bar of gold.
Perfect for tea time or breakfast, it can also be used as a dessert accompaniment, for instance with ice cream or fruit salad.
French legend tells that this pastry was invented in the financial district of Paris by a French pastry Chef - called Lasne - to delight the brokers without the inconvenience of sticky hands!
